New Workshops Introduction to Spinning and Introduction to Weaving

Introduction to Spinning and Introduction to Weaving classes are currently being planned. Please email canberraspinners@bigpond.com with 'Introduction to Spinning' or 'Introduction to Weaving' in the title. Classes are open to non-members. A deposit will be required to secure your place.

Momentum coming to Canberra 8 July-1 August

Momentum, the 18th Tamworth Fibre/Textile Biennial exhibition will be coming to Canberra from 8 July to August 1 2009. Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to see this the premier fibre/textile exhibition in Australia. An exciting one day symposium will also be held on Friday 31 July. Stitching up the National Gallery of Australia

In the final week of the Soft Sculpture exhibition 5-12 July at the National Gallery of Australia a series of events called Knitta Please will take place.

Knitters are invited to participate in a community project to transform the front entrance and foyer of the NGA with knitting. For more information click here.

The ANU Textiles workshop has a membership for the
Danish Yarn purchasing Association which is an initiative to help practitioners access unusual/industrial yarns through the group purchasing scheme.

July Meeting
Saturday 18 July, 2.00pm


The loom has arrived! although it is currently awaiting assembly in a series of cardboard boxes. You can say hello to it at the Guild rooms.

Please note 7 &14 July Tuesday Evening Drop-In
have been canceled. Will re-commence 21 July.

Winter brings just the weather to stay inside and create. However, this year it also brings two exciting events: Knitta Please , at the National Gallery of Australia
5 to 12 July
; and Momentum at the ANU School of Art Gallery from 8 July to 1 August. For more information on these events please look at the 'news' column on the left hand side of this page.



 


How and where to find us
Our meeting rooms, "Kurrajong" are located in a building on the northern corner of Majura Oval. The only access is gained through double gates close to the corner of Angas and Sherbrooke Streets, Ainslie (UBD map 49, K8).

"Kurrajong" is open every Tuesday 10am to 2pm and again at 6pm to 9pm (for those unable to visit during the day). The rooms are also open on other selected days and times (please check the Guild Diary and Group Activity pages for further details).
